This was an incredibly poignant read at this time in my life. I feel my mind fragmenting with thoughts that distract me from the here and now. My thoughts drift often to work (a job that drains me) and toxic work relationships that do not serve me well.

I yearn for my girlhood days when I was disconnected from this neon lit screen that, yes, screams for my attention. I spent a lot of time outdoors in nature, playing in the dirt and exploring creek beds.

To redirect my energy, I have recently taken to gardening, which grounds me, literally, in the present moment. Tending to and cultivating more nourishing thoughts takes a lot of practice as I drift to the negative ones more often.

There’s also a kind of just violence that happens when weeding out invasive colonizers in my garden of native pollinator plants that, sadly, does feel good, even if it’s a form of destruction. Maybe it’s a balance of getting rid of the noxious things invading the garden and learning to take deeper breaths that heal me.

Whether this ramble makes sense or not, I was grateful to read these affirming and comforting words today. Thank you, Kim.

My dear friend, everything you share is such wisdom! I so appreciate your share and this insight. I love that gardening has been a practice to help you metaphorically and literally weed out what is not serving you. It's a beautiful thing to connect to Mother Nature so we can be reminded of our true nature. So grateful to have you be a part of this community and thank you as always for sharing your voice 🙏
